Voith Industrial Services is a founder member of the Wirtschaftsverband für Industrieservice e.V. (German Trade Association of Industrial Services Providers)

Industrial services are a crucial factor when it comes to the competitiveness of industrial bases. With a market volume exceeding €20bn in Germany alone, industrial services are a major sector of the economy, which leading lights in the industry will in future increasingly be bringing to the focus of public attention.

As a newly founded interest grouping, the Wirtschaftsverband für Industrieservice (WVIS e.V.) has three main areas of activity and objectives:

  • To develop a transparent and clear-cut profile for the industrial services sector.
  • To create a positive public perception by engaging in active dialog with the media and the public at large.
  • To awaken interest in the diverse and complex activities, to offer guidance, and to formulate clear goals.

DIW supports the “Facility Management – Die Moeglichmacher” initiative

Be it at a football stadium or on the premises of an automobile manufacturing plant, neither public life nor a sophisticated industry will survive without professional facility management. But only a few are aware of what facility management actually is. What hides behind this laborious English term is a growth industry with an annual turnover of around EUR 50 billion that is only increasing with each passing year.

What is the objective of this campaign?

The “Facility Management – Die Moeglichmacher” initiative wants to strengthen the public image of facility management and present it as an attractive and a challenging work environment. Twelve service providers in the facility management sector have joined this initiative, which also has the support of DIW, one of the leading players in this field.

Facility management offers a wide spectrum of services and promising career opportunities

“FM ensures that buildings function without a hitch and simultaneously creates optimal production and working conditions,” explains Elke Kuhlmann, spokesperson for “Möglichmacher”. Facility Management covers all secondary processes that enable companies to support and to improve their core business. These processes cover everything from the management and maintenance of buildings and outdoor installations along with security services such as plant supervision and fire protection to fleet management.

The initiative would now like to present this range of indispensable services to the public through an advertising campaign. “This new and growing industry offers a stimulating work environment and excellent future prospects,” elaborates Kuhlmann.
